Why V1 Flight?

Training built on
good decisions.

V1 Flight's training philosophy puts airmanship and good decision-making at the centre of every lesson. We don't just teach you to pass a test — we develop confident, capable pilots who think for themselves.

Training from grass airstrips keeps costs down and maximises time in the air. We visit different airfields during lessons so you build genuine cross-country confidence, not just pattern-work experience.

The Aircraft

Ikarus C42.

The German-built Ikarus C42 is the aircraft you'll train in from day one. Classified as a microlight, this high-wing two-seater is one of the most popular training aircraft in the country — forgiving, stable, and with the visibility and low running costs that make learning both easier and more affordable.

After Your Licence

Keep flying with a syndicate.

Passing your test is just the beginning. Rather than paying to hire an aircraft every time you fly, our members can buy into a share of a syndicate Skyranger Ninja — spreading the cost of ownership across a small group so your flying stays affordable for years to come.

A share gives you genuine ownership, a fixed low monthly cost, and an aircraft based right here at your home field — ready to fly whenever you are. It's the smart, sociable way to keep your wings once the training is done.

Common Questions

What you
want to know.

None at all. Your first lesson is a familiarisation flight — you'll take the controls under guidance and get a feel for the aircraft before any formal training begins.

Most students complete the NPPL-M in 12–18 months flying at weekends. An intensive programme can compress this significantly. You need a minimum of 25 flying hours and to pass all 5 ground exams.

The National Private Pilot Licence (Microlight) allows you to fly solo and carry one passenger in any microlight aircraft. It's the most accessible pilot licence available in the UK, with fewer medical requirements than a full PPL.

The NPPL-M requires a self-declaration of fitness, confirmed by your GP. There are no formal aviation medical examinations required, making it accessible to most people.

The NPPL-M is a UK licence. Some European countries recognise it, but touring internationally is better suited to the Tour & Train programme with an instructor, or upgrading to an LAPL or PPL later.

Club membership gives you access to the aircraft with fuel, insurance, maintenance and equipment included. Many graduates go on to build hours, enter competitions, or progress toward an LAPL or PPL.
